Our History

Dr. McBee started practicing 19.5 years ago as an associate dentist. She purchased a practice in May of 2005, which is when she became a business owner. She decided she wanted to become a dentist in the sixth grade. Straight out of dental school, she worked with and for the dentist who inspired her to become a dentist, providing her with the foundation necessary to own and run her own dental practice. In November 2014, the new office location in southwest Lubbock on Milwaukee Avenue was opened. The team is happy to serve patients they acquired at their original location, as well as patients that have joined them since the move to the new
location!

In 2014, Dr. McBee was chosen by her peers to be included in Lubbock Magazine’s Top Dentists 2014 in the General Dentistry field.

Meet Our Dentist

Dr. Tracy Rene Henson-McBee

Dr. Tracy Rene Henson-McBee is a native Texan. She was born in Lubbock, Texas, to Robert and Henri (Henrietta) Henson. She has a twin sister named Stacy, who is the girl’s head basketball coach at Fossil Ridge High School in Keller. She also has an older sister, Cindy Hogue and an older brother, Jon Henson.

She grew up in Meadow, a small town 25 miles southwest of Lubbock. She graduated from Meadow High School in 1990, and from Angelo State University in 1994, with a Bachelor of Science degree (major in Biology/minor in Chemistry). She graduated in May 1998 from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio Dental School with her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree.

Three weeks after graduating from dental school, Dr. McBee married James McBee from Ballinger, Texas. James is a working cowboy. They live in the country near Meadow and have 2 boys: Riley and Tate. Her family keeps her very busy when she is not in the office.

Dr. McBee loves dentistry and knew as a sixth grader that she wanted to become a dentist. She enjoys the relationship that she forms with each patient, and feels so blessed to be involved in an occupation that can improve people’s self-esteem by making them feel better about themselves by creating a beautiful smile.

People in and around Lubbock are not like people anywhere else. It is very gratifying to be able to help hard-working people in the area. Lubbock’s economy is driven by agriculture, which Dr. McBee understands because her dad was a cotton farmer before retiring in 2008.

Dr. McBee makes it a priority to stay up-to-date on the latest dental technology. She attends numerous dental courses each year to keep her knowledge of dentistry current. Technology is evident in her office with the patient favorite Waterlase MD Dental Laser, that allows her to do fillings without anesthetic.

Dr. McBee’s office and staff are very personal, and they make each patient feel at home and at ease. Her office is not a large clinic that operates in large volumes. Patients are not herded in and out like cattle. Each patient is treated like family and has access to Dr. McBee more easily than other dental or medical offices. She takes her job very seriously, but she manages to do so in a “fun” way. It is not uncommon for a patient to tell her, “That was the best dental visit I have ever had.”

Dr. McBee is involved in organized dentistry. She is a member of the South Plains District Dental Society, the Texas Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. When she is not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, swimming, exercising, wakeboarding, playing basketball, watching sports, and being involved with her boys in their extracurricular activities.

Dr. McBee recently published her own cookbook titled Spurs and Smiles. It is a collection of approximately 300 recipes from her own kitchen, as well as from family, friends, and patients. You can purchase one of her cookbooks by sending an e-mail to drtmcbdds@sbcglobal.net, or by calling her office at 806-792-2171 . She also has a page on Facebook called Spurs And Smiles.

Meet Our Team

Michelle Smith – RDH, Hygienist

My name is Michelle Smith. I have been married eight years to my husband, Jesse. In my spare time I like to work out and spend time with my husband and our three dogs.

Growing up in the small town of Wellington, TX, I was given the opportunity by my family dentist to observe his practice. This experience allowed me to see the ins and outs of dentistry. As a junior in high school, I knew a career in dental hygiene was in my future. In 2002, I graduated from Amarillo College with an Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene. I have been a hygienist for over ten years and love helping people have a happy, healthy smile.

I am very excited and blessed to be a part of Dr. McBee’s team! She cares for and treats her patients just like family. Along with a hard-working group of ladies, Dr. McBee uses the latest technology to make your visit as stress-free as possible.

Jonna Cook – RDH, Hygienist

My name is Jonna, and I have been a dental hygienist for 13 years. I attended hygiene school at Amarillo College.

My high school sweetheart, Brady, and I have been married 13 years. We live out at New Home with our three boys, Caleb, Colby and Colton.

I grew up in Stanton, but I have roots all over West Texas. We had a family friend who is a hygienist, that taught at the hygiene school at Howard College. When I was a little girl, she took me to the hygiene school to have my teeth cleaned, and I knew then that I wanted to be a dental hygienist, too.

I love having 3 boys. We spend a majority of our time hauling them to and from all of their activities.

I absolutely love being a part of Dr. McBee’s team. She has a big heart and cares deeply for her patients. I am thankful to work for a dentist who loves technology and encourages us to stay up-to-date with the advances in dentistry. The girls I work with are the best around, and I am blessed to be able to work in a place where we are like family and have fun.

Erica Reyna – RDA, Dental Assistant/Front Office

My name is Erica and I was born to Lonnie and Gloria Reyna in Lubbock. I am the oldest of five kids and the only girl. I have four younger brothers: Jason, Justin, Jacob and Korbin. I am very much a family-oriented person and a Christian. When I am not assisting, I enjoy reading and spending time with my family and friends.

I am from a small town called Crosbyton. I graduated from CHS in 2005 and soon after attended dental assistant school. I graduated from dental assistant school in May 2006 and started working for Dr. McBee immediately after and have been here ever since.

I enjoy working for Dr. McBee very much. She has such a caring heart, loves what she does, and has a lot of the latest, up-to-date equipment that makes her practice even better. I would have to say that our office is a very unique, caring, professional office, that treats everyone like family. We provide a very comfortable atmosphere, which makes it easier for our patients to come back.

Katie Gordey – RDA, Dental Assistant

My name is Katie. I have spent the majority of my life here in Lubbock, but was born in Lake Jackson, TX. I graduated from Coronado High School in 2003. I attended dental assisting school at South Plains College and graduated in 2007. I love every minute of it! It truly makes me feel so blessed to be a part of helping people change their smiles and lives.

I have been with Dr. McBee for 3 years, and I have enjoyed working with Dr. McBee and the girls here. She leads a great team and our office has an enjoyable atmosphere. Dr. McBee truly cares about her patients BIG and small. It is great to see our patients taken care of with such compassion! I look forward to seeing our practice grow and am glad to be a part of this team!

Brenna Kiehnau – RDA, Dental Assistant

My name is Brenna Kiehnau. I was born and raised in Grafton, Wisconsin by my parents Susan and Steve Kiehnau. I have one older brother, Nick. When I am not assisting, I like to spend time with family and friends, shop, and play around with make-up.

In February of 2018, I relocated to Lubbock, Texas after meeting my other half, Brandon, at the Harley Davidson Museum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a few years ago. In addition to the Texas heat, my favorite part of being here is the endless food options.

I completed the dental assistant course at Today’s Dentistry in Cedarburg, Wisconsin in 2015 and have been practicing ever since. My family and I always knew the dental field was in my future. I have learned so much and enjoy every minute of being in dentistry.

Working alongside, Dr. McBee, I have been able to experience a lot of new technology, one being the WaterlaseMD. This advanced laser technology has been such a positive experience to observe. Patients who are
apprehensive about their dental visit, typically get to have a “pain free” encounter, meaning reduced patient anxiety.

Dr. McBee is an amazing person to work for. She is very kind hearted, and really cares for her patients which shows. The attention she provides to her patients, truly exhibits her compassion and love for people and dentistry. I look forward to many memories and years with Dr. McBee and her staff!
